1.-THE OVERALL

2.-THE BLOCKS

THE OVERALL.

The two blocks are not lined up on purpose, according  to the plot's arrangement and volumetry -caused by urban planning, and to different housing programs and organizations.

The blocks situation is determined by a maximum enclosure set by the planning regulations of the area, and the maximum height fixed in 5 floors over the floor, reached in the project .

The plot has one common entry equidistant to both blocks. Altogether divide the space into two garden areas.   The more private area, with a pool, is the most distant to the roads, at a lower level.

The blocks identity to the same plot is strengthened by an equal outside finishing in materials and texture.

Plastic values have been emphasized in order to point out the singular charcter that urban regulations are promoting: the detached block.

Material is placed on superimposed layers, so that the buildings have a stronger plastic effect.

The volumetry of the smaller block externalizes the organization of homes inside.

The regulations force to a compact volume, therefore, a  tension and neutralization of the ceramic mass was intended. In other words, "lighten" the building by not arranging façades into principal and secondary.

THE BLOCKS.

BLOCK 1. The block's plan corresponds to a double symetric organization of four homes per floor.

Different geometries superimposed with different textures and finishings express the building's double skin.

Homes take advantage of the whole external perimetre, as elevator,  stairs and services are in the central space.

BLOCK 2. Its plan keeps simetry around a unique longitudinal axe, with three different homes per floor (area and number of rooms) envisaging to increase the gradient of home types.

The situation and distribution of the three-room home allows to fit and single out the entry, and grants it a certain plasticity.  The slope to the block envisages to organize the general access to the plot, enables service spaces inside, and allows an open stairway to the block, by reducing the evacuation height.
