The area of the intervention is 5ha.
The viaduct that once floated above the public space has been demolished and the traffic flow has been reorganized.
The public spaces for walking and playing now become the main characters.
Lifts, escalators and ramps allow for comfortable movement despite having to negotiate important differences in level of the topography.
In the area of the road with the greatest difference in level the two lanes were once separated by a five metre drop. The demolition of the cantilever that supported the upper level of circulation and the displacement of the vehicles to the lower level, has allowed for the transformation of the upper level into a large promenade area with restricted vehicle access to services and garages of the neighbouring buildings.
The wall that had once supported the cantilever and has now become the structure of the new promenade, next to which the two-way circulation is now located, has been clad with sound absorbent bricks that are glazed in two different shades of green. Along the crown of the wall runs a long planter, full of trailing plants, that make its inevitable presence more pleasant.
All of the walls in the renovated area are clad with the same glazed brick and crowned with granite.
A continuous paving of salmon coloured modified asphalt fills all pedestrian areas. The street lamps are conventional ones, shaped like a curved branch.
470 trees of different species have been planted, the majority of which are tipuanas in order to give a more unified image of the whole.
The final result has been assumed by the neighbours as though the previous discordant elements that were once in the space had never existed.
